Generating a barcode on this website creates a graphical image file. It does not create a legal entry in the global GEPIR (Global Electronic Party Information Registry) database.
What sellers must understand:
Online marketplaces (notably Amazon, Walmart, and Google Shopping) frequently audit uploaded UPCs against GS1's GEPIR database to verify that the brand owner's legal business name matches the prefix licensee. If you invent a random 12-digit number or purchase unlicensed numbers from unauthorized brokers, marketplaces may reject your product listings or suspend your seller account.
Barcodes Generator assumes zero responsibility for marketplace listing rejections, account penalties, or legal disputes resulting from the use of unauthorized barcode numbers. To secure legitimate, globally recognized prefixes, always apply directly to GS1 US or GS1 India.
4. Physical Printing & Scan Verification Advice
While our engine outputs mathematically accurate vector lines and 300 DPI high-resolution bitmaps, physical scannability is heavily dependent on variables outside our control:
- Printer Quality: Faded toner cartridges, clogged inkjet nozzles, or dirty thermal printheads create gaps and voids across barcode bars;
- Color Contrast & Quiet Zones: Printing black bars on dark or textured paper violates the required optical reflectance ratio; omitting white margins (quiet zones) prevents scanners from detecting code boundaries;
- Mechanical Auto-Scaling: Operating system print dialogs that scale pages to "Fit to Printable Area" cause creeping misalignment on multi-label sticker sheets;
- Substrate Surface: Glossy plastics or curved cylindrical bottles reflect scanner lasers away from the photodiode sensor.
Universal Recommendation: Always print a physical test proof on your target packaging material and verify it using both a commercial laser handheld scanner and a 2D camera smartphone app before initiating mass commercial print runs.
